Week of April 4

Springtime in Wisconsin can include the challenges of winter as well as the warmth of a spring day.  The pictures below show that Lakeview students can rise to these challenges and continue learning.

Early in the week we had the challenge of four inches of snow outside school.

While inside we were welcoming spring.

Yes, Elizabeth, you must wear your snowpants when you go out for recess.

Kindergarteners ready to enjoy the snow for one last day.

By Friday afternoon, everyone could go out for recess with no jacket.

If the weather cooperates, these won't be the only swings we have after the spring break.

Miss Soderberg's kindergartners discovered that dinosaurs were really, really big! Here they are measuring the length of apatasaurus.

They discovered that apatasaurus was as long as 20-1/2 kindergarteners.

Mrs. Maule's second graders were recreating geometric shapes using tooth picks and marshmallows.

In Mrs. Phillip's first grade, students were classifying shapes that represented the fractions 1/2 and 1/4.

How many ways are there to show 1/2 and 1/4? Must they all look the same?

Graphing isn't just used during math instruction. It is also incorporated in reading.

Wow Hailey, that's one very long story you wrote!

Now it's time to share your story with your classmates.

This graph helped everyone keep track of how many parent surveys were returned.

Mr. Groth promised popcorn and soda for everyone if 200 of the 310 surveys were returned. On Friday, he delivered the popcorn and soda.

Mrs. Hodgkinson's third graders celebrated with their book buddies.

It was a time to enjoy each others company.

It also meant cleaning up popcorn that made it on the floor instead of someone's mouth. Thanks for helping Sean.
